Join Joe Robinson and Radius Studio for a special collaborative workshop in March 2020. We'll start with a 2 day demo/informational workshop on March 21-22, 2020 at Radius Studios in Portland. Joe has an MFA from Oregon College of Art and Craft and has been working with clay for 20 years. He owns the 20 acre East Creek forest art studio and retreat just outside of Willamina, OR. He also teaches Art at Linfield College. Joe will lead a discussion and overview about the wood firing process, will show some work from the kiln and firing considerations, and share a series of making demos to get you ready to fire. You'll have over a month to make work and prepare to fire. 

Then, travel to the beautiful East Creek property May 9-17 to participate in firing the 40 foot wood kiln, as well as participate in pit and raku firings. You'll get 2 cubic feet of space in the wood kiln, 2 cubic feet of raku space, and 2 cubic feet of pit firing space. All firing supplies and materials provided, but you have to make the pots! You'll be provided a gourmet meal on Friday May 15, and are welcome to camp on the East Creek property at no charge. Bunkhouse and tiny cabin accommodation available for an extra fee. The firing is concurrent with the 2020 NW Wood Firing Conference (NWWFC.com), so a variety of artists, students, and educators from around the country will be present at the firing.

-2cf wood, 2cf pit, 2cf raku. Bring your bisque and we'll fire it together.

-all glaze material and wadding 

-camping accommodation 

-1 day East Creek studio use during firing time

**Note: Wood firing is a shared work process, but as a workshop participant you can come to as much or as little of the firing as you'd like. This workshop is designed so that if you have a 9-5, you don't need to take much or any time off to get all the juicy bits. You'll need to make sure your pots get to East Creek by 5/9, and arrange to pick them up on June 7, but other than that, there's no requirement. Raku and pit firings will happen May 15 and/or 16 pending participant input.
