Scott Ross Workshop Anagama Firing - April 2019
The April 2019 East Creek Workshop firing will be led by Prof. Scott Ross of Linfield College.
Scott will focus on non-traditional stoking patterns and rhythms by introducing a large amount of wood into the anagama, with the intention of forming both functional glass and sculptural surfaces in predefined areas of the kiln. Scott will bring years of experience firing his own kiln, the High Lonesome Anagama in Michigan, for long periods (12 -14 days) to achieve rich color maturation, variety and dynamic surfaces. Scott will also be demonstrating the hikidashi process of pulling work from the kiln at high temp.
Scott Ross earned his MFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in 2012. During the last eight years he has participated in 35 exhibitions (11 solo and 24 two person/group with 3 international) and spent four years as Assistant Professor of Sculpture at Kentucky State University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Art and Visual Culture at Linfield College, where he is expanding the Linfield sculpture studio and pedagogy to include metal fabrication, large scale/public sculpture, casting and digital fabrication to include 3D printing.
We are very excited to work with Scott in the Spring!
Beds and loaner tents are available. Please inquire for more info.
